Saturday, Nov. 8
C/EASY/30/2000+ MTN BIKES - 5th ANNUAL SAN FRANCISCO, 20'S STYLE. No, this is not a costume party or a tour of 1920's architecture, but a tour of 20+% grades in the city. The ride will include Filbert St., one of the steepest paved roads in the world at 31.5%. Bring locks and money as we will make food stops along the way (espresso in North Beach, burritos in the Mission, etc). We will ride streets in Pacific Heights, Nob Hill, Noe Valley, Twin Peaks, Mt. Davidson, and more! Be prepared for a little bit of dirt as well. Meet at the Marina Safeway at 9AM. The ride will take most of the day at a leisurely pace - bail out options are readily available at any time. Call ex-bicycle messenger Gary Gellin at 415-328-9124 for directions, if necessary.

C/INT/12-15/2000- MTN BIKES - 2nd SUNDAY ROMP RIDE. Monthly intermediate level ride sponsored by the Responsible Organized Mtn. Pedalers. Expect a moderate pace with frequent regroups and about 2000 feet of climbing - some cycling experience is needed as well as being in shape! Meet at 9:30AM in the south equestrian parking lot at Skyline Ridge OSP located on Skyline Blvd., 1 mi. S of Page Mill Rd. HELMETS REQ'D. C/INT/10/1100+ MTN BIKES - EL CORTE DE MADERA. Meet at 9:30 AM in the Skeggs Point Parking lot on Hwy 35, about 3 mi. north of Hwy 84; 6 mi. south of Hwy 92. This ride will require some technical handling and a few moderate climbs. We will ride the trails of Fir, Methusela, Resolution, and ECdM trail. Rain cancels. B/EASY/12/500 MTN BIKES - SKYLINE TO THE SEA TRAIL - Beginner ride in Big Basin State Park. Enjoy a rare sight of waterfalls in the Redwoods. If you want to hike the 1/4 mile to the Berry Creek Falls at the midpoint, bring a bike lock with you. Expect a very moderate pace (there will be children as young as 7 years old riding their own bike) with frequent regroups and about 500 feet of climbing. C+D/INT/30/5000' MTN. BIKES - AN EPIC RIDE IN HENRY COE. Join Chris Vochi and Paul for a real mtn. bike workout. Meet at the Gilroy Hot Springs entrance to Henry Coe at 9:00 am. D/DIFF/15/2800 MTN BIKES - 3rd SUNDAY ADVANCED RIDE IN EL CORTE DE MADERA. We'll leave at 9:30 from the Skeggs Point lookout on Skyline Blvd., approximately 5 miles north of the Highway 84/Skyline intersection. This advanced ride will be filled with technical challenges. B/INT/10-20/2000+ MTN BIKES - WILDER RANCH. Meet in the parking lot off of Highway 1 (about 5 miles north of Santa Cruz) near restrooms at 9:30AM (nominal charge for parking or park on the Hwy 1). We will initially do a clockwise loop around Wilder with somewhat steep climbs on single track and fire roads. A short snack break at the picnic grounds. After 10+ miles, those that wish can continue back up Wagon Wheel (the oldest stagecoach trail in the park), the opposite direction on Old Cabin and then continue the loop counter-clockwise to 20+ miles or return down a fast fire trail back to the parking lot. Bring lots of water (this can be a very hot ride!!!) and warm clothing (it can also be very cold and/or foggy). A/EASY/5/500 MTN BIKES - 4th SATURDAY ROMP RIDE AND BEGINNERS CLINIC. Monthly beginners only ride and clinic sponsored by the Responsible Organized Mtn. Pedalers. Trail etiquette, safety, riding technique, control, equipment and basic repair will be discussed at the ride. CD/INT/35/4000' MTN. BIKES - CLIMBING CORNUCOPIA. Congregate at 9:30 at the Stevens Creek Dam parking area. Carry along copious concessions. We'll take the Stevens Canyon Trail to Table Mtn. and Charcoal Road. Cross over Skyline to Long Ridge and Peter's Creek Loop, continue through the Christmas Tree farm and to Russian Ridge OSP. Then we'll make our way over to Alpine Trail and over Page Mill Road to the Canyon Trail and up our final ascent to Black Mountain. Call Cathy for complete coverage. 650/968-2146 ott2go@aol.com

C/INT/18/3000' MTN BIKES - "WORKING OFF THE FEAST" RIDE. Join Glenn and Linda on the Main Street overpass in downtown Los Gatos at 9:30. This ride will take you up the Lexington Dam and then up to the ridge via the Porpoise Trail. You'll ride up and down the "roller coasters" on the ridge before enjoying the descent back to the reservoir. All the trails on this ride are fire roads; yet some are still very challenging. CD/INT/16/2300 MTN BIKES - FORT ORD. Looking for someplace new? How about.... Fort Ord. Ride the well drained sandstone maritime chaparral of Fort Ord. This ride will include the classic "Goat Trail". Meet Phil at 10:30 at the end of Creekside Terrace-Take 101 South to Salinas. Take 68 toward Monterey.
